Biography

I was born and raised in Naples, Florida. At the age of 19 I traveled outside of my home state for the first time to attend Johnson and Wales orientation. I’m not going to lie and say JWU was my first choice or dream school, because it wasn’t. I originally wanted to attend The Culinary Institute of America. My plan was to start in the summer after I graduated high school. At the time I thought everything was set, I was accepted and I got a few scholarships. I had no idea how much work it really was to get thing ready to attend college until the CIA dropped me for not having any paperwork in. When I told my high school culinary teacher what happened she was the one who convinced me to apply to Johnson and Wales. Within a few days I was accepted to the Providence campus, which she attended also. All summer I spent emailing documents and applying to more scholarships. I finally started college in September of this year.

I am a baking and pastry major. From the early age of 9, my dream has been to have my own bakery or cafe. I remember growing up and watching how happy cooking made my mom. I would bake cookies and cupcakes from ready made mixes and dough to go with her dinner. By the age of 11 I decided that everything I would make had to be from scratch. All throughout middle school and high school I leaned everything off of YouTube. I leaned how to make buttercream roses, how to layer cakes, how to make marshmallow fondant, and so much more.

Everyone around me saw how dedicated I was to learning as much as possible. All of my birthday presents and Christmas presents turned into baking and kitchen utensils. For my 17th birthday my two best friends even bought me a red kitchen aid mixer.
